Graff Storm (formerly Art Supply Guide) is a digital publication on a mission to become the #1 source for graffiti knowledge, tips, advice, inspiration and guides.
Our goal is to help you become a better graffiti artist by equipping you with the right knowledge and tools so you can hit the streets and make a name for yourself the right way. Without embarrassing yourself by coming across as a toy.
We do this by providing in-depth articles on graffiti and street culture, the history of graffiti, tips for new artists, inspirational content and product reviews.
All the content is written and reviewed by graffiti artists with years of direct experience painting graffiti. They use the products they’re recommending and implement the techniques they describe in their own art.
Why trust Graff Storm?
Graff Storm was started by me – Rich.
Growing up in London, I was exposed to the graffiti that surrounds the cityscape. It’s hard to miss in such a culturally diverse, densely populated city.
The more I saw it, the more interested I became. I started asking questions like “Who are the people that do it?”, “How did they reach that spot?” and “What are they using to do it?”.
It led me to begin sketching up my own tags, sourcing the tools to do it and hitting the streets with my friends. I got in a lot of trouble along the way, but I met loads of like-minded graffiti artists who helped me become better too.
In no time, I was hooked.
As a beginner, the underground nature of graffiti doesn’t make it easy to learn the ropes. Naturally, everybody starts out as a toy. But it’s how long you stay toy that defines your status in the graffiti world.
Along with my experience of painting graffiti for over 15 years, I also wrote my final year university project on graffiti and what makes people so drawn to the art form.
The project involved interviewing active graffiti writers from London and beyond to investigate their stories and interest in the culture.
It was one of the most exciting projects I’ve been involved in. I found myself in places I’d never been before and learned loads about graffiti along the way.
So if you’re a beginner, take a look around the site and absorb as much as graffiti knowledge possible.
I created Graff Storm with the mission of helping new graffiti writers across the globe learn more about the culture and improve their skills as artists.
If you have any feedback on the site, drop me a message using the contact form at the bottom of the page. I’m always looking to improve the site.
Good luck out there.
What does Graff Storm mean?
Graff is short for Graffiti. So Graff Storm essentially means Graffiti Storm.
I chose the name because it sounded dark, mysterious and chaotic, similar to the essence of graffiti culture.
I also chose it because I like the idea of this platform being in “the eye of the storm”.
Graffiti is a chaotic movement where anything can happen. People are out every night pushing the culture and causing a storm. It’s a crazy, unpredictable scene.
Graff Storm is a platform in the eye of the storm. It’s a place of calm where you can learn about graffiti culture, the tools and techniques and in-depth guides about how to be a better graffiti artist.
Leave the eye equipped with knowledge and ideas. Brave the storm, then come back to learn and refuel. Rinse and repeat.
